So why ‘Dubbo this is Heart Land’? This has been the dominant question the Daily Liberal team has received since we launched our new editorial campaign celebrating life in our city earlier this week.
The campaign has met with overwhelming support from our readers.
A number of readers have taken the time to phone or email us and we thank them for their feedback.
Many of those who have contacted us have asked why we chose the Heart Land title.
The concept for ‘Dubbo this is Heart Land’ came about a few months back and is based on three key features of our city.
First was Dubbo’s status as a regional hub. We are the key centre for the vast majority of services in this region. It is not a stretch to describe ourselves as the heart of western New South Wales.
Secondly, the merging of three key national transport routes in our city places us at the centre of the nation when it comes to the delivery of goods. If these highways are the nation’s arteries then surely we are its heart.
Finally, the people of this city are generally as close to the heart of the quintessential Australian as any found anywhere else in this nation.
We are down to earth, we believe in a fair go, and we will go out of our way to help a mate when he or she is down on their luck.
So ‘Dubbo this is Heart Land’ seemed a fitting moniker for an editorial campaign that celebrates all that is good about where we live and who we are.
That's why we think Dubbo is Heart Land . . . what about you?
What do you love about our city? And what do you think are the key issues it faces moving forward?
