P-plater airlifted after Gulgong crash

24/07/2008 10:06:00 AM
A female P-Plate driver from Gulgong was airlifted to Dubbo Base Hospital after crashing her car on the Spring Creek Road near Gulgong early yesterday afternoon.

It is understood that the 17-year-old sustained neck, head and arm injuries but it was unconfirmed at time of print how serious the injuries were.

An emergency helicopter from Orange airlifted the teenager to Dubbo Base Hospital about 2.30pm.

The helicopter landed in an adjacent paddock to the road where the accident occurred.

It is believed the 17-year-old was trapped in the vehicle for a period of time until she regained consciousness.

The young female was driving a white Hyundai hatchback that was badly damaged on the driver’s side during the accident.

The single-vehicle accident occurred approximately 10km from Gulgong on the Spring Creek Road.

Gulgong police, ambulance and the Volunteer Rescue Association attended the scene.

The car was cleared by a tow truck from the accident site by 3.30pm.

It was taken to the female’s family home.

The female’s mother and father were preparing to leave for Dubbo Base Hospital at about 3.30pm.
