Melissa Russell yesterday continued her domination of the Western Districts Ladies Championships by teaming up with fellow Dubbo member Gai Morrison to claim the Foursomes titles.
On Tuesday and Wednesday at Narromine and Dubbo clubs, Russell was on her game to register rounds of 71-72 (143) and win the overall individual championship by 20 shots from 2007 winner Chantel Hodson from Bathurst (81-82 163).
Yesterday’s foursomes round of 87 was two in front of Sue Button and Rhonda Richards (89) with Parkes visitors Dale Matthews and Kaye Jones next with 90.
Camden players Margaret Poulton and Yvonne Day had 72 nett and claimed the Division 1 handicap by a shot from Heather Ringland and Janelle Toole (Dubbo) 73 c/b and Ngaire Fields and Alleyne Graham (Dubbo) also with 73.
In Division 2 scratch for players with handicaps from 23.5 to 45, Lyn Price and Sylvia MacGregor won with 99 from Margaret Ogilvy and Gaureen Carr (102) and Euri Messer and Gilda Heibler (103) third.
In the handicap, Dubbo players dominated with victory going to Dianne Hildebrandt and Lorraine Beacroft (73 nett) with Cheryl Simpson and Toni Beatty (75) second and Freeda Keech and Carmel Sherlock (76-1/2) third.
The foursomes championships wound down a very successful tournament that featured 39 clubs represented. Play was at Dubbo and Wellington on Tuesday and Wednesday and another feature was the presentation dinner held at Dubbo Golf Club on Wednesday night.

Dubbo men on Wednesday were able to play their regular weekly competition and the full house sign was up with the ladies on the 1-18 course and the men playing two nines on the 19-27 layout.
The field was limited but still 86 players were on the course with the rating adjusted to 69.
The stableford competition provided Bill Latta with top score of the day with a great card of 42 points from his 19 handicap. He finished two in front of Greg Vane with 39 while scores of 36 after a countback was good enough to win a golf ball.
The other main scores in Division 1 were provided by John Bassinghtwaighte, Brad Stewart and Sandy Dunshea (38), and Barry Harvey, Ian Williams, John Willing and John Dixon next with 37.
In Division 1 there was three-way countback at the top of the leaderboard with Ben Amor off five, continuing his excellent form from the championships to post 41.
Barry Hildebrandt (13) gained the second place trophy with 41 while club captain Terry Sloggett (10) had to be content with a ball, also with 41 points.
The ball competition cut was 38 points on a countback with Wayne Woodbridge winning one with 39 points and the 38s coming from Tony Ford and Simon Warwick.
Two nice shots up to the hill into the wind on 23 featured in the nearest to the pins with David Harper (235cm) and Ian Williams (163cm) the best, while down on 26 Max Keating was the only name on the card with a shot during the morning to 36cm.
Graham Davis won Division 2 at 295cm.
