Dubbo trainer Geoff Hayes and jockey Joe Galea combined for yet another win when taking out the Westoil Petroleum Ratings 62 Handicap (1000m) with Speciosity at Parkes on Saturday.
Patiently ridden, Speciosity, backed from $3.00 into start as the $2.40 favourite, powered home from last to score by more than two lengths from Castlebar (Jeff Kehoe, $12.00) and Metal Acid (Brad Clark, $6.50).
The winner is owned by J Ficovic and has chalked up three wins from 20 starts and earned more than $20,000 in prize money.
The five-year-old mare was having her third start this preparation having run third behind Esprit Lad at Louth over 1200m a fortnight ago.
Galea later completed a winning double at Parkes.
Riding in great form, he was a last-minute replacement on the Michael Lynch, Cowra-trained Made Of Pearls in the Transtank Ratings 55 Handicap (1300m).
Near the lead all the way, Made Of Pearls ($10.00) was a convincing winner over Betty Be Good (Adrian Robinson, $5.00 fav) and Againandagain (Jeff Kehoe, $17.00).
Give away horse Blushing Dance won the Bakm Enterprises maiden Handicap (1600m) for Young-based trainer John McGregor.
